1. What exactly is ZVO Amsterdam and what makes you different from other practices?
ZVO Amsterdam is a small-scale optometry practice focused on non-acute eye care. Whenever necessary, we have the possibility to consult an ophthalmologist and refer you for further treatment. This allows us to provide specialist-level care with very short waiting times. If desired, we can also send a report back to your GP.
2. Do I need a referral from my GP?
We work with all Dutch health insurance providers.
If you are insured with one of the providers listed below, your eye examination is 100% reimbursed, without using your deductible (“own risk”) and without needing a referral from your GP.

3. Do I need to pay for the consultation on the spot?
No, the consultation is billed directly to your health insurance provider. Please remember to bring your BSN number and health insurance card with you.
4. Are consultations fully reimbursed by the health insurance provider?

5. What does a CBR driving license examination cost? Are these costs reimbursed?
The cost of a CBR driving license eye examination is €134.
No, these costs are not reimbursed, as this examination does not fall under regular healthcare services. The full amount is at your own expense, and you will receive an invoice afterward.
6. My GP has provided a referral. Can I schedule an appointment myself?
Yes, you can schedule an appointment yourself. Alternatively, once we receive the referral, we will contact you to arrange an appointment.
7. I have received a letter from Ksyos for a fundus photo due to diabetes. Can I book an appointment online?
Yes, please select the option “Fundus Photo Ksyos” when booking your appointment. You can also call us or fill out the contact form, and we will get in touch with you to schedule an appointment.
8. How soon can I get an appointment?
We aim to offer you an appointment within a few days.
9. How can I make an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment online, by phone, or through our online contact form. We will contact you as soon as possible to confirm your appointment.

10. Can I change or cancel my appointment myself?
Yes, you can change or cancel your appointment via our website or through the link in your appointment confirmation. Please do so at least 24 hours in advance to avoid cancellation fees.
11. How long does an appointment take?
An appointment typically takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
12. Will my eyes always be dilated (with eye drops)?
Yes, in most cases your eyes will be dilated. The drops widen your pupils, which may temporarily cause blurred vision and increased sensitivity to bright light. Please note that you should not drive immediately after the examination, and we recommend bringing sunglasses to protect your eyes from bright light.
13. From what age can I visit your practice?
From the age of 12.

14. Do you perform prism measurements?
No, unfortunately we do not perform prism measurements. We recommend visiting an orthoptist for this type of examination.
15. Is support available in other languages?
Yes, in addition to Dutch, our team also speaks English and Farsi.
16. Are your practice facilities accessible for wheelchair users?
Yes, our location at Pieter Calandlaan 339 is fully accessible. The building has an elevator and adapted facilities for people with reduced mobility.
17. Is there parking available at your optometrist practice in Amsterdam?
Ja, er is betaalde parkeergelegenheid voor de deur bij onze praktijk.
18. Is de locatie van jullie optometrist in Amsterdam goed bereikbaar met het openbaar vervoer?
Yes, our practice is easily accessible. Several public transport options are available within a 2–3 minute walking distance.
19. What should I bring to my CBR driving license examination?
Please bring the CBR documents containing your online ZD code. Also remember to bring your current glasses or contact lenses.
The report of your examination will be submitted directly online to the CBR. You will receive the final decision and results through the CBR.
